The Symbol List is a helpful convenience for people who have trouble typing. Every symbol you enter or drag-and-drop gets added to the Symbol list. Once there, it remains. Symbols that aren't used eventually fall off the list so that the list contains the instruments you look at the most.

The list is sorted alphabetically. To use symbols in the list, either drag-and-drop the symbol from the list to the window in which you want to see it, or double-click on a symbol and it will go to the active window.
