Fixing Instruments Quoted in Fractions

Most equities and many commodities are quoted in decimal numbers. Some commodities are quoted in fractional numbers. For example, U. S. Bonds are quoted in thirty-seconds, and Soybean options are quoted in eighths.

The program enables you to fix bad ticks for instruments quoted in fractional prices. You specify a fractional price by typing a special character followed by the numerator (the number on top of the fraction). Special characters include the following:

Special Character Syntax
Meaning
a+<numerator>
Specifies eighths. To specify eighths, hold the <Alt> key down and type the numerator.
'+<numerator>
Specifies thirty-seconds. To specify thirty-seconds, type an apostrophe () followed by the numerator.
'+<32nds><1/8s of 32nds>
Specifies half- and quarter- thirty-seconds. To specify half-thirty-seconds, type an apostrophe, the number of thirty seconds, and a 4, i.e., 114294, where the 29 specifies numerator of a fraction written in thirty-seconds, and the 4 specifies the numerator of a fraction written in eighths, specifically 4/8 (or 1/2). the program then multiplies the numerators to get a product rendered in half-thirty-seconds. To get quarter-thirty-seconds, use 2/8s (or 1/4).
