Formulas

Formulas have unique names and parameters menus, and they work in chart windows, quote windows, and alarms. This module explains how to use formulas.

Writing a study involves using the Formula Listing menu, commonly known as the Formula Evaluator (these terms are often used interchangeably). The first step in writing a formula is to display the formula evaluator. To do this, display the Main Menu and select Formulas, or enter the .FORMULA command.

You can write two kinds of formulas: a formula (for lack of a better name) and a formula study. A formula is an algebraic expression that calculates a value. A formula study is an expression that is not only capable of algebra, but also predicate calculus, a term we use loosely but which describes generally the distinction.
