Keyboard Commands for Existing News Windows
News window keyboard commands are used to manipulate a news window
s current category, current query, and previous query settings and thereby to determine the contents of the windows current index list. News window commands may be entered under two different scenarios: directly into an existing news window, or in conjunction with the
.News command. The .News command, if entered with no additional parameters, always creates a news window with default settings. If, however, a news window command is appended to the .News command, the command will be applied immediately to the settings of the newly created news window. The following reference sections will describe every available form of news window command, specifically noting each command
s effect on a news windows current category, current query, and previous query settings. The syntax and semantic descriptions of news window commands presented in the following sections use certain typographic conventions as visual clues to increase the clarity of the descriptions.
