News Windows

If you subscribe to news, the program enables you to display news stories in a news window. News received directly from a data vendor is processed and stored directly. All sorting and display functions are performed by the program. News stories are received in broadcast format.

A news window enables you to display news through the program. To display a news window, select News from the Windows menu, or enter the .NEWS command. A news window initially contains a chronological index of all news stories currently available. You can select a news story for display using either the mouse or the keyboard. You can also use the Auto Read news feature to automatically display the text of the most current news story. When a more current news stories come in, the text of that story automatically replaces the text of the older news story. There is no need to return to the list of headlines to find the most current news headline.

Before beginning this module, you should be familiar with the basic techniques used to add, move, size, and select a window. If you are not familiar with these basics, please review the Mouse Basics, Menu Basics, Window Basics, and Page Basics help topics.
