How do I change options prices?

Changing prices is one of the more common methods of forecasting options performance. In Aspen Systems basic options package, there are a variety of ways to change prices. One way involves choosing the type of price you want to use in evaluating options performance. Most data providers send several different kinds of prices that you can use. These values include:

Aspen Systems refers to this set of prices as the BATE. (BATE is an acronym for Bid/Ask/Trade/Exception.) You can select the BATE you want by using the OBATE and UBATE quote codes, and by displaying the Quote or Global Option Parameters menu and changing the Option Bate and Underlying Bate fields.

In addition to choosing the operative BATE, Aspen Systems enables you to edit prices. Editing prices involves using the edit box. Naturally, an edited price gets locked, and while it is locked, incoming prices do not change it. The following examples demonstrate methods you can use for changing prices.
