Pivoting a Trend Line

Selecting Pivot from the Trend Line Functions menu enables you to pivot the selected trend line. To pivot a trend line, you must select both the trend line you want to pivot and the end-point you want to pivot. The selected end-point moves where you want it.

To pivot a trend line with the keyboard, follow these steps:

1. Press u to select the line and end-point you want to pivot.

2. Press ` to select the Trend Line Functions menu.

3. Select Pivot.

The trend line cursor changes to a pencil.

4. Press the arrow keys to move the pencil.

The selected end-point moves with the pencil; the opposite end-point remains stationary.

5. Press u to lock the line into place.

To pivot a trend line with the mouse, follow these steps:

1. Position the mouse pointer on the end of the trend line you want to pivot.

2. Double-click-and-hold the right mouse keys on the end of the trend line you want to pivot.

The trend line cursor changes to a pencil.

3. Drag mouse to move the pencil.

The selected end-point moves with the pencil; the opposite end-point remains stationary.

4. Release the right mouse key to lock the trend line into position.

When you pivot a trend line, you can also stretch it, as shown in the figure below.
