Selecting the Current Category

By default, selecting a new current category for a news window causes the window’s current query (if any) to be saved as the previous query and then be set to empty.

The following syntax and semantic description shows the news window command which will select a new current category. This description assumes the command text is being entered into an existing news window.

The category specification in the command below can be given using a category’s title, a single-character code, a synonym, or an acronym. See the news category tables given earlier in this document for a list of possibilities.

Select a new category (the existing current query, if any, is canceled):

category

current_category category

previous_query current_query

current_query [empty]

Note: This command form is the equivalent of selecting a new category from the popup category menu.
