Step 3: Place the Symbol Base (sbase) Codes

The symbol base code is anchored to the first group of each block. You want the sbase filled to be two characters wide, so you need to place a comma and the number 2 to the end of the code, i.e.,

sbase,2

To start, you need to open a cell directly above the first block. The cell you open should be centered above the block. The cell above the s in $1.last is centered above the block.

When you open this cell, the Cell= box covers the area you are working in. If the Cell= box is in your way, grab it with the right mouse key and move it out of the way, as shown in the following figure.

To continue, open the cell above the s in $11.last and enter the following:

$11.sbase

Here, you must manually enter the $11 prefix. If you dont, the window will not work correctly.

To continue, enter $19.sbase in the cell above the s in $19.last. Do the same thing with each block in the layout. Remember to use the prefix of the first group in each block. When you finish, the window layout looks like this:

In this layout, you can leave the symbol cells left-aligned.

At this point, you are ready to exit modify layout mode. To do this, enter the .QEDIT command or select Quit Modify from the Edit Quotes menu.

Finally, save your new layout as a window or a page.
