Acquiring Novell Networking Software If You Don't Already Have It

You must purchase the required software from Novell, or, if you are already a licensed user of a Novell Server product, you may download the most recent version directly from Novell's on-line services. The least expensive product, and the one we recommend, is Novell's 16-bit NetWare Client for DOS/Windows. The 16-bit Client provides everything needed to support the AspeNet Server software. It can be ordered from Novell by calling 1-800-NETWARE. The Novell part number is 00662644024943. You may also purchase it from a Novell Authorized Re-Seller in your area.

The Suggested Retail Price for the NetWare Client for DOS/Windows as of 02-Jul-96 was $99.00. This purchase grants you a site license to install the product on as many machines as you have at your site. If you plan on setting up workstations using DOS or Windows 3.1x, this may be the best option as you can use the same network software package to provide TCP/IP and/or IPX support for all workstations.

Novell's new NetWare Client 32 for DOS/Windows is not currently available except by download from one of Novell's official online services, and you must already have a license for a Novell Server product to use the 32-bit client software. AspeNet Server software has been tested successfully with the new 32-bit transport software. The installation and configuration procedures are different from those used with its 16-bit counterpart, but an experienced installer or administrator should have little difficulty adapting it for use with AspeNet. Unless you have specific needs that cannot be solved except by installing the 32-bit client product, we recommend you use the 16-bit client product instead.
