Before RAS will work on a Client computer, Dial-up Networking must be
installed on the client.
Since RAS provides access to a TCP/IP Network, you must select and configure
the TCP/IP protocol before you can access an AspeNet Server. Although the RAS
Client may access a LAN as a client or as a server, you can access an AspeNet
server only as a client.
A RAS computers role is determined when you specify how RAS-enabled ports
will be used. Setting a port to Dial Out Only means the computer will be a RAS
client only. Setting a port to Receive Calls Only means the computer will be a RAS
server only. Setting a port to Dial Out And Receive Calls means the computer
can be a client or a server.
Network LAN protocol settings apply to all RAS operations for all RAS-enabled
ports, so setting RAS to use TCP/IP enables your client to communicate with an
AspeNet server, even if you use the client as a server for other operations.
