Manual Installation from LAN Workplace 5 CD-ROM
1. Insert the Novell LAN WorkPlace 5 CD-ROM in your machines CD-ROM drive. For the following instructions, we
assume that version 5 of the LAN WorkPlace product is being used.
2. Create a directory \NWCLIENT on your boot drive.
Note: The remaining instructions in this section assume your boot drive is drive
C: and your CD-ROM drive is drive D:.
3. Copy the file LSL.COM from the LAN WorkPlace 5 CD-ROM to the C:\NWCLIENT directory. Also copy the file LSL.MSG as shown in the second example below.
C> COPY D:\ENGLISH\NWCLIENT\LSL.COM C:\NWCLIENT
4. If you will be using IPX network protocol, copy the file IPXODI.COM from the LAN WorkPlace 5 CD-ROM to the C:\NWCLIENT directory.
C> COPY D:\ENGLISH\NWCLIENT\IPXODI.COM C:\NWCLIENT
5. If you will be using TCP/IP protocols, copy the file TCPIP.EXE from the CD-ROM
to the C:\NWCLIENT directory. Also copy the files PING.EXE and PING.MSG:
C> COPY D:\ENGLISH\BIN\TCPIP.EXE C:\NWCLIENT
C> COPY D:\ENGLISH\BIN\PING.EXE C:\NWCLIENT
C> COPY D:\ENGLISH\BIN\PING.MSG C:\NWCLIENT
6. In like manner, copy the 16-bit ODI-compliant driver for your particular
network adapter from the CD-ROM directory D:\ENGLISH\NWCLIENT (or obtain the proper driver executable from the software that came with your
network hardware). Copy the driver file to the C:\NWCLIENT directory:
C> COPY D:\ENGLISH\NWCLIENT\NE2000.COM C:\NWCLIENT
7. Complete your new installation by following the instructions in the section, Configuring 16-bit Transport Software for a New Installation .
