Software Required for MCP/IPX

AspeNet Servers require Novell's IPX network software in order to send and receive information using the IPX network protocols. Both 16-bit and 32-bit versions of Novell's IPX network software are available for use on DOS-based systems. Either version works. No other vendor's IPX protocol stacks are supported. AspeNet Server software has been optimized for use with Novell's IPX protocol stacks.

The MCP transport software (which relies on the IPX protocol) is implemented as part of each AspeNet product and requires no separate installation or configuration.

Novell's IPX network software is shipped as an integral part of nearly all Novell products.

The 16-bit DOS version is included in Novell's Netware Client for DOS/Windows. It may also be available from the manufacturer of your network hardware if they have sub-licensed the necessary components from Novell. The 16-bit Netware Client product may also be downloaded subject to the same licensing. The 16-bit IPX protocol stack is implemented by a single executable module named IPXODI.COM.

The 32-bit IPX protocol stack may be downloaded as part of Novell's new Client 32 for DOS/Windows, provided you already have a license for a Novell Server product. The 32-bit protocol stack is implemented using a Netware Loadable Module (NLM) named IPX.NLM.

Either implementation requires installation of additional supporting at the AspeNet server.
