Selecting an Installation Procedure

An AspeNet Server operating TCP/IP and/or MCP/IPX protocols requires several third-party software components, mostly from Novell, Inc.

Aspen Research Group, Ltd. assumes that any Novell, Inc. software used with any AspeNet product is legal, that is, Novell's copyright and intellectual property laws are observed in accordance with any of Novell's software license agreements.

There are several ways to obtain and configure these software components; however, all methods require some manual intervention in verifying or altering the contents of system and configuration files.

To minimize potential confusion, especially for first-time installations, we have documented installation procedures for several of the most common or economical scenarios you may encounter. These procedures do not attempt to explain all the possible configuration options or why certain options are used. Instead, the intent is to enable you to complete the installation as quickly as possible. As you read the instructions that follow, be prepared to make decisions about what installation methods are most convenient to you, and follow the cross references accordingly. More detailed information for making alternative decisions and troubleshooting configurations is presented in the section titled Server Support Reference .

Depending on your situation, please follow the instructions in one of the following sections:
