TCP/IP Software Configuration

Configuring TCP/IP transport software on any particular workstation machine should be done in accordance with the documentation provided by the maker(s) of the operating system and/or TCP/IP software that has been installed on that machine. An AspeNet Workstation asks for no restrictions or special configuration requirements on the part of any vendor's TCP/IP protocol stack.

Also, an AspeNet Workstation does not make any requirement on the assignment of the workstation machine's IP address. Unlike servers, which must have fixed IP addresses, workstations may be configured with any IP address that is valid for the customer environment. Such addresses may be assigned in a fixed manner or dynamically through the use of a BOOTP, RARP, or DHCP service.

Proper assignment of any workstation's IP address, sub-net mask, and any other IP settings is the responsibility of the customer's IS (Information Systems) group or their network administrator(s).
