Workstation Command-line Options for using TCP/IP

AspeNet workstations are able to use TCP/IP or IPX. To use TCP/IP, the command-line must include the new argument, “ip.” If this argument is not given, the workstation attempts to use IPX.

In addition to the “ip” argument, the command line parameters must specify a particular server. To do this, use the “server” argument followed by the server's IP address in dotted-decimal notation. An example of workstation command-line for using TCP/IP follows:

AGW ... ip server 204.250.100.27

Note: When using TCP/IP support, the server to be used can not be pre-selected by data-feed type; command-line parameters such as “CS” or KR” will be ignored. For workstations using IPX support as in prior releases of AspeNet, the use of datafeed specifiers and server names on the command line remains unchanged.

Note: The server name assigned for use on IPX-based networks is
not related to the Internet-style host-name assigned to the server's machine. Thus, a dual-protocol AspeNet Server would actually have two names, one for the IPX environment and one for the TCP/IP environment.
