Network Support for Servers

This section focuses on setting up an AspeNet server.

AspeNet servers can be configured using MCP/IPX, TCP/IP, or both protocols. An advantage to configuring both protocols on a server is flexibility in workstation configuration. Be aware, however, that multiple protocol configuration requires careful attention to the server’s system resources, particularly if you intend to support thirty users from the server.

Configuring a server with one protocol requires that you configure all workstations with the that same protocol.
