Using Novell Software from your Network Hardware Manufacturer

Many network hardware manufacturers have licensed some of Novell's 16-bit transport components and can legally redistribute them with their products or

make them available for download as a convenience to purchasers of their hardware. The section, Manual Installation Using Software that Came with Your Adapter, describes how to install and configure TCP/IP and/or MCP/IPX support for a server, assuming that you have legitimate copies of:

1. a 16-bit ODI-compliant driver for your network adapter,

2. the LSL.COM file,

3. the IPXODI.COM file (only needed for MCP/IPX support), and

4. the archive file TCP16.EXE (only needed for TCP/IP support).

If you do not at least have an available copy of LSL.COM (and IPXODI.COM if you need MCP/IPX support), please follow the instructions in the section, Acquiring Novell Networking Software If You Don't Already Have It , instead.

The archive file TCP16.EXE may be legally downloaded, copied, redistributed, and used without restriction and without any prerequisite licensing agreements for other Novell products. If you do not have a copy of TCP16.EXE, you may download it from:

1. Novell Support Connection web site: http://support.novell.com/search/patlst.htm

2. Novell's FTP server:
ftp://ftp.novell.com/pub/updates/nwos/dsclnt12

3. Novell's NETWIRE forum on CompuServe.
